Crime Statistics

In accordance with the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act" (originally known as the "Campus Security Act") schools are required annually to compile and provide statistics on the following seven (7) criminal offenses listed below to the United States Department of Education. Statistics are reported on crimes reported to the Atlanta Metropolitan College Police Department and that occur on College property and public property immediately contiguous to campus. Furthermore, statistics are reported for non-campus buildings and/or property that is owned or controlled by the College. Statistics are also gathered from local police for crimes occurring on properties immediately contiguous to Atlanta Metropolitan State College.

Schools are also required to report the following three types of incidents if they result in either an arrest (physical or citation) or disciplinary referral:

  • Liquor Law Violations
  • Drug Law Violations
  • Weapons Violations

Hate Crimes* must be reported by category of prejudice:

  • Race
  • Gender
  • Religion
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Ethnicity
  • Disability

*This separate disclosure includes all crimes reported in the general disclosures (criminal homicide, sex offenses robbery, aggravated assault, burglary; motor vehicle theft; and arson) as well as any other crime involving bodily injury and reported to local police or campus security authorities.
